JULY 2, 2010 My new SISTERLOCK INSTALL DATE!!! WHEW!!!

First of all thank you Maryee for welcoming me to the family of the Locked Hair Blog Exchange. I AM CELEBRATING MY SECOND INSTALL OF SISTERLOCKS!!! I am very pleased that I made the decision to go natural. And choosing sisterlocks has been THE best choice that I feel within my heart I could have made. The versatility you have with sisterlocks is very rewarding. Versatility is what most people enjoy about their hair. Just by going natural does not mean that it is something we can not enjoy. I have had every hairstyle, weave and haircolor you can think of, and it never felt like the...real me. Now I feel like this is home. I can enjoy the ocean's waves, windy days, stormy nights, brisk mornings, and the humidity of hot summer afternoons, all while not worrying about my hair. This is because I have allowed myself to completely embrace my beautiful, nappy, kinky hair. I have refused to strangle, whip, straighten, "correct", complain about, fry, dye and lay to the side the hair that God has blessed me/us with. I love it when they say, "I got free when I got locked up!" 'Nough said! Much love for everyone! Ignore the ignorance and naysayers! Remember it's a journey, so be patient my fellow butterflies. Lock on and Peace out!

  2. Thanks Pebbles! /don't get me wrong a little color here & there is very beautiful to me. I just don't think the hue of bonding glue with a hundred tracks of #4, #27, #1b, & or #33 is cool or healthy for us anymore. We just need to love & embrace our real selves all while enhancing our beauty.

  3. I love your locks. :) I agree with the notion that we should go natural and embrace our real selves. I can see a lot of the tendency to strive for perfection in our society of today. I don't think real beauty lies in perfection. Beauty lies in imperfections. That's natural beauty.

    1. Thank you for your comment. First of all it's a shame that I am just now responding. Nothing is absolute PERFECT, but at the same time you want things to look nice. We enjoy a nice and neat mowed lawn. Natural beauty and raw beauty are two different things. Although the grass is natural, the straight lines from the lawnmower look so beautiful as they are neatly displayed in the lawn. We must admit it looks more beautiful to have a yard with a "kept" lawn than a "naturally" wild grown lawn. At the same time, you must agree doesn't it look better than FAKE TURF GRASS? All I'm saying is that even with kept lawn it STILL is not perfect, but CARED FOR...and BEAUTIFUL. Beauty lies in caring, while knowing we will never be perfect, but... we did our best. We cared, we tried, we gave it our all and that... is beautiful! Much Love! Lock On!

    1. You are welcome. Thank you for commenting. I hope that you continued your research. Time and experience make a huge difference. I am proud to say that the trainee who did my first set of Sisterlocks, does EXCELLENT work today. I am glad that I encouraged her, in sincerity, because now the girl is rocking it!!!
