The LHBE is simply a place where locked bloggers who have informative, photo filled journeys of their lock "process" can be found. Bloggers here have positive, but real stories of their journeys, some from day 1. It is meant to be a central location where many blog stories focusing on locks, be they Traditional, Freeform, Sisterlocks, Braidlocs, Palm Roll, Two-strand Twisted, etc. are easily located. Enjoy the journey stories. Do not copy photos without owner's permission.

Naturaly Free's Sisterlock Saga
Hey Sisterlocks fam...
I feel in love with Sisterlocks when I noticed them on a lady from my church. I ranted and raved about them for a year. I finally had them installed in July of 2005, everyone politely said as little as possible. They were expecting this finished look and not so much scalp showing but I knew that before long, they would be growing down my back. To make a long story short, after a year and a half, my hair wasn't coming out as I imagined so I combed them out for a LONG tedious month. I'm not willing to say it was my consultants fault, my fault or the texture of my hair's fault but now I know exactly what I want, how to maintain them and I am ready for my 2nd set (yippeee).
I am a Sisterlocks consultant in training servicing the metro Atlanta area as well as anyone willing to travel. Give me a call TODAY for your free consultation at (678) 887-9912 or email me at naturaly_free@yahoo.com.
Take care!

Maryee's Sisterlock Journey
Thank you to all who've joined the Locked Hair Blog Exchange. Encourage your other locked friends to get a blogger account and get to blogging. Blogging, like journaling is very therapeutic. I know I've learned so much more about myself, computers, html, picasa photos, web design, and others just by opening up a blogger account. Ain't that great? When you are learning, you are growing!

THANKS FOR STOPPING BY The Locked Hair Blog Exchange. I had my Sisterlocks installed December 13, 2003 by Imani Nash-Bey (Inland Empire, CA.) I requested she make them larger than the traditional Sisterlock size because I had worn my hair locked before and liked the larger size. Since installation, I have combined some locks, so my locks don't have the Trademark SL look, but Sisterlocks is where I entered in this season of locks.
Good Job Maryee... You are doing an awesome job, sis! Thanks for letting me hang out with you for so long. Blessings, ya'll~
Jen

My Thoughts for Bloggers about Google AdSense
Have you seen folk's blogs or website and they have ads from Google on them? Wonder if they are making any money?
It takes a good while to start generating money on ADsense, and I'll tell you why. As far as locked hair blogging, what we have is a niche market of folks reading our blogs and no where near the amount we'd need to #1 visit them, and #2, be interested in clicking on the ads we have no control over coming up on our blogs/websites. Some of the ads are quite cheesy. I have on my website, http://www.maryee.com/ Amazon ads, too and some of them are quirky and bulky I might add (by the template I chose).
I have mixed feelings about it, cause I'd rather folks stay on my blogs or website than travel somewhere else, cause the payoff is little every time someone clicks on an ad. The payoff is huge if everytime each visitor came to the blog they clicked on an ad. Not likely. They'll click on other links, like the ones we suggest/add before they click on the adsense ads. We know that. Hope this makes sense.
That's why I decided to add my adsense code to every blog of mines, including every page on my website because each page pulls different ads according to the content of the blog/webpage.
When I realized the hits were very slow I stopped checking on my adsense turns every week because you have to accumulate like I think $100 worth of clicks before they cut you a check. And although I haven't checked my hits in a while, I was only averaging a couple of dollars a week/month, if that.
Now, if over time, everyone adds my blog/website to their blog, then the chances of traffic will increase. And don't let me mess around get some of my writing published. Whoa! Instead of me reacting, I'll already be set to potentially get some good ole' hits on the ads when the traffic increases.
My suggestion is, if you don't mind seeing the ads, go ahead and sign up and don't look back at your stats cause they'll only make you mad. Just keep on blogging and one day, you'll get a nice check in the mail for $100 and it will come right on time!
